• The first crest was revealed to the public in 1888 during the days of Royal Arsenal. It featured three cannons, each carved with lion’s head, pointing upwards.

  • In 1913 the move to Highbury led to changing of the original crest and in 1922 Arsenal adopted their first single cannon crest with the cannon pointing east with the club’s nickname The Gunners inscribed along side it.

  • In 1925 the crest was changed yet again, this time the cannon pointed westward and the barrel made slimmer. The year 1949 saw the first modernized and coloured (red, gold and green) crest, same style cannon with the club’s name in black above the cannon with a Latin motto saying ‘Victoria Concordia Crescit’ meaning ‘Victory comes from harmony’.

  • In 2002 a new crest was introduced, this time with the cannon pointing eastward with the club’ name in sans-serif typeface above the cannon, the colour green was replaced by dark blue.
